CLASS ZERO: Planetary
Class zero civilizations are primitive and limited to their home world. Usually the inhabitants of this world are divided and do not have a unified government. But even if they do, class zero civilizations will at best, be able limited to their own planetary system. Barely in the infancy of space exploration. Perhaps with small colonies on their closest celestial bodies such as a moon or their closest planet. Unfortunately, due to the danger and limitation of this class, many class zero civilizations fail to move up to class one.

CLASS ONE: Inter-Planetary
This class has full control of two or more planets. They are limited to their own solar system. Many class one civilizations have small colonies spread throughout their solar system. At best they may be able to send primitive ships to the closest stars.

CLASS TWO: Inter-Stellar
Capable of inter-stellar travel within their own galaxy and have control of two or more star systems. This is the earliest class capable of using the warp, tunnel and star lane methods of travel. The ascension of this class to galactic is commonly accepted when they have mastered hyper-spacial travel.

CLASS THREE: Galactic
Earliest known civilization class capable of using the hyper-drive. A class three civilization has complete control of its home galaxy and at best may be able to travel to their closest galactic neighbors.

CLASS FOUR: Inter-Galactic
A class four civilization has complete control of two or more galaxies. They have mastered hyperspacial travel and are then eligible to join "The Unity". At best, this civilization class would  be in the infancy of experimental Loopwarp travel. However this form of travel is usually limited to those who have decided to join "The Unity". There are non unity factions out there capable of Loopwarp. But overall this technology moderated, limited and controlled by members of "The Unity".

CLASS FIVE: Universal
A class five civilization has mastered loopwarp travel and has established colonies all over the universe. In addition, any specific race/species that has become universal is also known as a class five race. Humans would fit into this category. However, there are only three universally accepted class five civilizations. The most powerful is "The Unity", a collective alliance of thousands of class four civilizations. Then there is the "Shade Imperium", an ancient race which primarily resides at the edge of the known civilized universe. Finally there is the "Unholy Empire of Sheol". Aka, the (believed to be but little evidence to prove it) inter-dimensional De'Mon race which seeks to annihilate all life.
